Watercolour

Watercolour papers come in a range of qualities.  The main characteristics that differentiate between papers in the material they are made of, the felting used to press the paper and the nature of the sizing used.  Cotton rag papers are generally regarded as the best quality watercolour papers as they are sturdy, with long fibres and a firm surface.  Given that cotton is a more expensive material than cellulose, cotton papers tend to have better quality surface and internal sizing too.  Arches Aquarelle, Fabriano Artistico, and Saunders Waterford are our better quality cotton rag papers.
